    Default Treo Question ( newbie)

    Greetings
I am still exploring my 650 after having it for two weeks. I just purchased an expanded memory card and am having trouble storing files to it from my pc.

I have some MP3's that I was going to expierment with so I wanted to save them on the SD card.

I tried Palm One quick install but the files never transfer after I add them and sync with the 650.

All other functions will sync, calendar, contacts, tasks and such.

The treo does see the card and shows the proper amount of usable space....I just cant seem to save anything to it

    Any Suggestions?

Default Easy way to access your Treo 650 SD Card.

Check out this thread that discusses mounting your SD Card for easy file management.

Another option would be an external USB card reader such as the MediaGear xTra Drive

That's the hardware option vs Card Export which would be software.

These are both fast and effective ways to manage data -- and move data to your SD Card.

Default Installing files to SD card

To install filed to an SD card (I hava a mac, I assume it's similar with windows):
    1) open your Palm Desktop software.
    2) go to pull down menu HotSync, open Install handheld files
    3) drag any files you want to install to the window
    4) after you have files in the window, you can click on the "change destiination" window to SD card or to handheld.
    5) hotsync, you should be okay. You won't actuall see the music files listed on your card, but if you use a media player, it should list them there.

Some applications will not run from an SD card, so you have to check before installing.

You're a Mac user! Why didn't you say that

I use Mark/Space Missing Sync. In addition to running my HotSync operations,
it also provides nice integration with iTunes and iPhoto. In terms of managing your SD card, Missing Sync installs an application (similar to CardExport) that allows you to mount your SD Card like a hard drive. Then it's just drag and drop.

What about for us lowly PC users? I know Missing Sync only works for Macs, but is there any similar app to allow PC-based iTunes users to have the program recognize the Treo 650?

You could try CardExport. At a bare minimum, you will be able to drag and drop files to your Treo's SD card. Cmon', us Mac guys have to get some exclusives.

I tried installing CardExport and I'm assuming you were guessing that that might make the card shwo up in iTunes. It did not. If I'm misunderstanding how you;re suggesting to use the app, please let me know. If not, any other suggestions?

I thought there might be a chance that it shows up in iTunes. The only other option would be to drag from iTunes. Mark/Space (the creators of Missing/Sync) have the advantage of being Mac developers, so they were able to add this feature in Missing Sync for both iTunes and iPhoto.

First of all, what kind of files are you trying to put on your Treo from iTunes? With a card reader, you would have to manually copy files from your PC to the card. The only way to get similar functionality to Missing Sync and iTunes, is Pocket Tunes and Windows Media Player.

All of my files are MP3, I just want iTunes to recognize my Treo as an external device. I can copy files to my Treo now using Quick Install, but I'm hoping to find a way to use the iTunes interface.
