treo shut off when someone text

Hello my treo cuts off when i receive or send a text. I got a new replacement phone and it did not do it. but when i hot sync my phone then it started cutting off when texting. Is there any way to fix this and if so how. if not can I just delete the palm desktop software and reinstall. but when and if i do this i will have to re enter all my contacts again thanks for any help john

Hi:

First, the Treo turns off (resets?) when you send or receive a text message or is the message truncated? I will assume you mean the Treo resets.

Second, are you saying you got a replacement and that it worked fine until you did a HotSync. After the HotSync it started resetting as the previous Treo did?

That certainly sounds like you may have restored a corrupt file or program when you synced the replacement.

Are you using any third party software?

Perhaps you need to perform a hard reset and then let it be just a clean Treo for a few days to see if the reset problem happens. If not you are going to have to restore third party programs one at a time to see if the resets return. If not, files will have to be restored selectively while trying to determine which might be corrupted.

I am sure some of the real Treo gurus can give a better explanation as well as offer better specifics as to finding out what might be corrupted if that is the problem. I would say that I don't believe the Palm Desktop software would be the problem so I can't see how reinstalling that would help.

Do you save your text messages on the treo. You might delete them then do a sync with handset override pc to get rid of any corrupt texts. Of course it might not be a text but in other data or your 3rd party stuff that Steve mentioned in his post.

there is a corruption in the messages database (which you unknowingly) re-installed.

use filez, delete Messages_Database.pdb and things should sort out

do agree about responding positive or negative tho. helps for search rather than just being an idea it can be seen as fact. worked for me!
