Treo Voice or other Voice Dialing Software - Treo Forums

I need to get some kind of voice dialer. Treo's website promotes "Treo Voice" but their installation instructions show that it's tricky and could cause problems. Has anyone used this software and if so, what has been the response? Please respond to my email below.

I just tried one.....you spend more time pushing buttons to get the thing to work, then if you just dial yourself. set up some short cuts with a shortcut key to speedial your favorites......

I tried out the Palm one - Voice Signal - for a while. There are some threads here on the subject. It can come in handy while you are driving and it does do a pretty good job of finding ANY contact in your database, but, as stated above, I agree that for $20 I can dial just as quick with one hand - AND get the number I want right away. It was pretty much 50/50 with me on the first try. And I could see really using this outside of a private enviroment as it speaks to you through the speaker. VoiceDialIt might be worth a try.

I tried voice dialer already....does the same thing....you pretty much have to have the software on your screen all the time in order to use it. and you have to speak into the phone not your headset (really stupid).....so much for handsfree.......

I use Voice Dial by Voice signal and like it! Although I agree with the Critism above, its still better while driving than trying to view the screen. Push the side button, speak the person's number and it dials it. Yea, with feedback through the speaker, its not exactly private. But for in the Car, I really like!

I am really going to be disappointed if Palm has not done a better job of handling voice dial through bluetooth on the next Treo!

you have to have the software running to do this right? which button do you press? Voice Dialer uses on of the volume buttons. then it asks for the name...you say the name then it asks if the name is correct, but you have to push another button on the screen....still somewhat dangerous while driving if you ask me.

how much was the voice dial by voice signal?

Yea, it maps the "extra" button on the side of the Treo to launch Voice Dail. You can choose another one other than that if you would like.

If I were going to use it to call you, with the Treo on and unlocked I would Push that button, and say "Call dkrevalin-Mobile." It would say, Did you say call dkrevalin - Mobile?" I would say "yes", and it would say "dialing". You can also tell it to just dial numbers.

I can't recall now, but I either gave 14.95 or 19.95 for it.

that sounds more like what i'm looking for....this one is all buttons except for when you say who you want.....

do you have to set up voice tags?? or is it true voice recognition? where can I get it?

No Training, at least not for East Tennessee Southern Redneck Dialect anyway

Hey, my Wife makes Dolly Parton Sound "Northern"!!

I believe I purchased it directly from voice signal over the net from the Treo! Anyway, test drive it and see how you like it, and let me know if its any better than what you are using!
