    Default Treo went batty

My 650 has just gone nuts... last week it was out in the cold & damn (not wet) for a few hours, and when it came back, the O & P keys wouldn't work... a quick reset and all was back to normal.

But then late last night I got home and went to set the alarm, and none of the keypad would funciton. The touchscreen still works fine.

Take out the battery, leave it overnight... now the keyboard works, kind of... it's as if a key or two are stuck sometimes... it'll just click click click continually trying to take its own actions, then all of a sudden it works fine (minus the Green phone key, though rarely that works too).

Basically it's just behaving strangely. I took it partly apart, but couldn't get the keyboard out because those philips screws are smaller than my screwdriver... and wasn't able to fix anything, I'm thinking maybe I just have gunk in the keyboard from condensation.

Anyway, I bought it on ebay new in box... am I sol if I can't fix it, or will Palm help me out? It's only about 9 months old. Or better yet, has anyone run into this kind of problem before and have a nice solution for me?

Wow...that's odd. Have you tried a hard reset? I realize you think it's related to the cold, damp weather...but maybe a hard reset would help bring it back to normal.

You could shoot a quick email to Palm about non-warranty work. Not sure how much they'd charge for a repair.

No, haven't attempted a hard reset... I took it apart to its bare bones yesterday, and it got better immediately after, then bad again.

Right now it seems to be behaving properly (with the SIM card out), so I'm going to switch it back to phone mode and see if it stays good... otherwise I'll give a hard reset a go, thanks for the advice.

This woudl be non-warranty? No manufacturer warranty for 12 months or something on these things (or is that just because of my purchase path?)?

I wish it would just stay good or stay bad (preferably good) so I could know that my attempts are making it better or not!

Good luck. I hope you get it stabilized!
