    Default treo650 - TTN5 - outlook questions

Hi everybody. I am new, and about to buy a TREO650 + TomTom Navigator 5.
Final choice is to be made between the Treo650 and the HP iPAQ6515.
I am currently a happy user of the TREO180, and I like PalmOS very much, so I uld like to stay with it and the TREO650.
But, reading forums around the word, including this one, I still have a few unanswered questions (and this may depend on me reading too many forums....)
Good answers will drive my decision.....Thanks to everybody for the time.

    1) how does the TREO650 behave when a phone call comes in (or needs to be made) and the navigation software is on ?
1A) Can the call be made using a BT headfone, sharing BT connection with the GPS receiver ?
1B) Does the nav keep running silently in the background, keeping the position, for the entire lenght of the call and at the end come up again immediately ?
Or does it freeze at the start of the call, needing time to recalc the position at the end ?
Or, even worse, will it stop and need to be restarted, refixed, re-programmed for the destination address ?

    2) Navigation maps. TomTom Navigator 5 seems OK, but i will accept other suggestions. I will use my navigation software for Italikan maps, but I will need to have European ones available at need.
2A) Should I use different SD cards to store Italy and Europe ? What will the required capacity be ?
2B) any suggestion on where to load the naviogation software (SD or RAM ?)

    3) I read in some forum the at the 7 days view in the AGENDA PLUS is no more available as standard on the 650. This is the main view that I use for my TREO180....

That's all folks for the moment....

Well, let's see if we can answer your questions...

how does the TREO650 behave when a phone call comes in (or needs to be made) and the navigation software is on ?
You can either ignore the call or take the call. If the later, then you will temporarily "disconnect" the TomTom from the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Once you hang up, it will reinitiate contact. The latest TomTom update 5.1.2 improves upon this..

Can the call be made using a BT headfone, sharing BT connection with the GPS receiver ?
No, unfortunately this is a limitation with the Treo's Bluetooth capabilities.

Does the nav keep running silently in the background, keeping the position, for the entire lenght of the call and at the end come up again immediately ?
No, it loses you while you're on the call. Once you drop the call, it picks up your location and re-routes as necessary. It's no different then going through a tunnel. Response of the GPS and TomTom is pretty quick.

Or, even worse, will it stop and need to be restarted, refixed, re-programmed for the destination address ?
No, it will keep your destination address and keep you on route.
Navigation maps. TomTom Navigator 5 seems OK, but i will accept other suggestions. I will use my navigation software for Italikan maps, but I will need to have European ones available at need.
I'm quite fond of the TomTom maps. So far, they have been pretty dead on.

Should I use different SD cards to store Italy and Europe ? What will the required capacity be ?
Not sure of the size of these maps. I have installed both Canada and New England area maps on a 512MB card without a problem. I'm guessing a 1GB would be more than enough for you.
any suggestion on where to load the naviogation software (SD or RAM ?)
You'll want to load the maps on the SD card.
I read in some forum the at the 7 days view in the AGENDA PLUS is no more available as standard on the 650. This is the main view that I use for my TREO180....
I don't recall it ever being standard on the 650. If you're a registered Agenda user, then you should probably upgrade and install the latest and greatest on your Treo. Agendus just released v.10.

Hope this helps with your questions. Check out the TomTom review for and in-depth look.
