I would suggest that you do a step-through with the manual that came with your phone. Hotsync is the POS (oops, Palm Operating System, not Piece of Sh*t as it is commonly used on financial forums) - anyway, the POS method for syncing up with your computer. I use Outlook and hotsync keeps my Treo and my Outlook sync'ed together - contacts, tasks, calander, etc. Or you can use the default Palm desktop to build your own contact files, task files, etc. Hotsync also sync's up your email between the two devices (PC and the Treo). And Hotsync is the method for installing/backing up programs on to your Treo (though you can download and install programs directly over the web connection on the Treo in many instances).

I have Sprint and a CD came with my Treo that installs the Palm Desktop on to my PC and then guided me as to what I needed or wanted to do as far as sync goes.

Activesync is for Windoz systems - the Treo 700w, not the 650.

When you load palm software it will prompt to sync outlook or to your palm software. The rest is a breeze.

Default You should find the manual in pdf on Palm's site

Check out the main support page for Treo 650 (well, the GSM version) at:

    http://www.palm.com/us/support/treo/treo650gsm/

There's a lot of info on the Treo 650 there.

Or, if you simply want the link to the pdf file, here's the link:

    http://www.palm.com/us/support/handb...o650gsm_UG.pdf

Oops - forgot you did not have it yet! My bad - reading too many threads!

Yep, you can get the manual online at Palm per the reply above mine!
