two days with my new 650 and already fed up with Versamail - Treo Forums

I purchased a new Cingular branded 650 to replace my Dell Axim and Nokia phone. After purchasing, I unlocked the phone so that I can use it with my AT&T SIM. Also unbranded the phone with upgrade to 1.28 firmware. Everything was picture perfect until this.

Next, I try to setup e-mail/calendar/contact synchronization with outlook on my desktop machine, I ran into dreaded soft reset problem with Versamail. Actually, Hotsync is synching the outlook emails correctly and I see them very briefly on the screen before soft reset happens. I have tried various suggestion including deleting databases with zfile and deleting backup folders etc, but nothing is working. Here are the exact symptoms after I do a complete hard reset and delete the user profile in palm desktop to create a new one.

I setup versamail to locally sync with my outlook in the Palm Desktop applications
First time I run the Hotsync, the outlook synchronization does not occur and I get the following error message in the Log File " VERSAMAIL INFO -- The configuration tool for the VersaMail (TM) Conduit is missing or corrupt. Reinstall the VersaMail (TM) Conduit to gain access to the configuration screens.
Conduit 'VersaMail' Error: Unknown error. (65535)"
Second time I run Hotsync, outlook sync goes without error but treo will reset upon opening Versamail. :mad:

Can anyone provide me with a magic trick to make this work ??

Interesting, sounds like a corrupted database in there. What happenes when you try a hard reset but do not load back all the old info, but basically set up that VM account from scratch?

Same thing as I described in the earlier post. I ususally set VM account from "Palm Desktop". Maybe that is the problem. I am not sure if it is possible ot setup a simple sync account using the local treo VM client.

But chattermail does not sync with outlook.

You're right and I wasn't paying attention to the fact that you wanted to sync with Outlook.

I also have a 650 from Cingular, and I had problems with versamail. Once I updated, http://www.everythingtreo.com/news/s...e-20051122179/ , all of my versamail problems straightened out. I also have more memory now.(well, the treo has more, mine is getting less)

That stinks, but reallistically, you probably messed it up when you unlocked/unbranded it.
Maybe you can try to flash the ROM back into cingular mode with the latest patch on palm's site:

When I install versamail from the cd it would not work right but when I download it from palmone it work fine it made be that you cd is corrupt.(Every time i install from that cd iI didnot work right )

This may be a bit odd, but have you looked into Eudora? It's not exactly cutting edge, and I'm not even sure it works with a Treo, but it is designed to sync with Outlook.
