Default updater 1.17 for cingular

Hello,

I am having trouble using my motorola hs850 bluetooth headset, it links up but when i try to make a call or use it, it disconnects. If i update the to 1.17 (1.04 on my phone now) will it fix the problem??

Also, i dont have a hotsync cable or a cradle, can i use my sd card to install it??

I wasn't having problems with the same headset you have before upgrading my Cingular Treo to 1.17, but I will say that BT performance is better since I upgraded.

You HAVE to have a hotsync cable to upgrade, along with the power cable. There is one point where you have to perform a hotsync with the power cord hooked to the sync cable. The whole upgrade took about 15 minutes. Just follow it step by step on Palm's Site. Read the 'what you need to know before starting', and that will help you.

I have been reading some of the other topics concerning he 1.17 upgrade and alot of them are not good. Mainly, the problem is that the phone goes into a reset loop after the reset or that it wont do the upgrade and in some cases it made the phone worse.

Have you experienced any problems like this?? All I wanna do is use my bluetooth headset with my Treo or should I invest in a brand new Treo(got mine used) phone with the latest firmware already on it? In fact, would it evem let me do the upgrade, my phone is 1.04, thats a big leap from pne firmware to another...

I can't promise that you won't have problems, but I can tell you that I had none, and certainly don't regret upgrading the firmware. My Bluetooth performance is much, much better than it was in the past. The only major problem that I had with BT before the upgrade, was if I did experience a system reset for any reason, I usually had to pair up the HS with the Treo. Since the upgrade, its somewhat louder and "cleaner" As far as the leap from 1.04 to 1.71, its the same hardware . . Its not like installing Windows XP on a system that used to run 3.1. I have read about others who had reset problems, etc. I am not doubting them. But I can tell you that my own experience took about 15 minutes following the steps in the link I provided and I certainly don't regret upgrading. If I would have experienced some of what these others did, I would be telling you to either live with it, or buy something besides a Treo, because Treos and BT aren't what they should be together.
