Default upgrading from 600 to 650 problems

I've run into some problems while upgrading from a 600 to a 650

I installed the new Desktop Version 6.2.2

I've got it syncing with my 600 phone, but none of the infomation from the phone has been transfered to the desktop. The old desktop has dissappeared. The files are still there, but Version 6.2.2 can't find them.

Any thoughts on how to make this happen?

TIA

I've uninstalled Version 6.2.2, reinstalled the older version 4. My calendar, addresses etc are all there. Tried reinstalling Version 6.2.2 and the calendar, address info is missing. This is getting to be a drag.

I've tried installing V 6.2.2 on another computer. Same problem - information is missing. (I've made sure to install to the old folder as per Palm's directions)

I tried hotsyncing my old 600 with "handheld overwrites desktop" the Log says it was successful, but still not information transfered to the desktop.

Am I missing something?

Is there an older desktop version that's compatible with the 650?

Thanks.

Are you using a GSM phone with a SIM card? If not, this is of no use.

I am ignorant about SIM cards, what they hold, etc., but I saw this note on another forum that may mean something to you if you have GSM service and use a SIM card. It mentioned editing problems as well as deleting:
Deleting contacts from SIM Card after transfer to new 650
I had the same problem and finally discovered the solution. Even the people at Cingular could not help. In order to dump contacts that have been transferred in from my old Palm m500, I had to go to the SIM Book icon and delete or edit from there. Any newly added contacts can be deleted in the normal fashion. An answer from a frustrated user.

Update: After rereading your post perhaps this doesn't apply. I apologize if it is of no help. Not sure if transferring would be affected, but if contacts can't be edited, perhaps they can't be moved either.

Could you or your provider try loading them onto another card to see if that has an effect?

Again, this is all good only if you have a SIM card.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that. It's the desktop software that's not working out. At least at this point that's as far as I can get before failure.
