    Default USB Device not recognized

I am unable to synch w/ my PC (Win XP Prof. SP2). When I connect the synch cable to the USB ports the device is not recognized. Has any one here had this same problem?
I checked the Device manager and the USB Serial Bus Controllers are fine.

    Hi:

I have this happen periodically and it seems to be due to a poor connection at the phone. If I plug and unplug a few times it does eventually work. This morning I plugged in and it connected first try. Yesterday it took 5 tries. Go figure...

I am told this doesn't happen if you use a cradle. I am assuming you are using the USB cord.

    Good luck,
    SteveTaz

Most USB cables aren't contoured to the bottom of the 650, so it's easy to get the connector skewed a little to one side.

The cable is normally the culprit though on one laptop I had to reset the USB ports with a USB registry cleaner I picked up off of the HP site. The laptop in question was quickly replaced after I had to do it twice.

So, I would look at the cable itself and make sure the contacts on both ends are clean.

This happens all the time with me. Sometimes I clean the bottom of my connectors. New post-its work well, just use the edges/corner of a stack and move them up and down over the phone connectors.

Sometimes I have to pull it out, cancel, push it in try syncing again.

Sometimes it's the hotsync program is not running. Sometimes I have to reboot.

This is probably the most annoying part of the phone.

Let me ask you all this, under the setup option in the HotSynch Manager should it have the USB option or just the COM ports?

My message was too short so I have to write another meaningless sentence.

I knew it... I don't have the option anymore! So after uninstalling the software and reinstalling the software it is now working properly again. Thank you all... although I would like to know what caused all this.
