Using treo with cingular/At&t w/o pda plan??

Is it possible to use the internet at all without the cingular/at&t pda plan?? i would only use the internet to get ringtones and stuff for the treo. thats why i dont think it would be necissary to get a 10mb plan for like 30$ a month with them. does anyone have the 650 or 680 with at&t and can access websites w/o a pda plan??? thanks.

Hi:

I don't have AT&T and I am not sure if you will be able to access without a plan. I am sure that if you can connect and you haven't signed up for a plan you may have a shock when you open your bill and see per kb charges. They can add up very quickly.

Before making that decision you should search these boards and I am sure you will find a number of threads discussing the various plans and the positives and negatives as well as mentions of large bills for the pay-as-you-go method.

I'm not sure about AT&T.. I used VZW w/out a data plan. They allowed you to connect, but they charged you by the kb, and it was not cheap.

yes the charges are very high connecting to the net, if you haven't got a plan stay away from the net, i was on it for like 2 mins cost me 5.78 .iI am still looking into it trying to find a way to connect for less,If anyone knows how Please let me know. Thanks :laugh3:

There are programs like minitones that are free and you can make your own ringtone and sync with your pc. Same with programs. The only other way is wifi which for the 650 is the sled...
