VeraMail Help (Alltel)
I just wanted to give you all a bit of information that I got today after spending almost 2 hours on the phone with Technical Support at Alltel.
I was getting an error message stating that my user name and password did not match - I spent an hour and a half on the phone with one person and after all that time she told me that I was just going to have to dump my e-mail account and get a free hosting account from Gmail or Yahoo, in order to make my 650 get mail.
So I explain that this is not the right answer and I will not accept this as a final answer (God I hate tech support)
So she shuffles me off to some other person (my guess advanced support) after about 10 minutes of fooling around, he comes back on the line and says OK...let set up a new versamail account...OK let do it we do it and it works...here is what the problem was:
When it asks for "username" it asks for the the name before @XXX
All we did was put in the username of my entire e-mail address..Voila..it worked perfect. Yahoo!!

Great news! I think that info was here too. But I'm glad the carrier helped you.
When you call sprint and say treo you go to level two.

I've just spent a great deal of time with tech support on a similar issue, I can tell you how I got things working. On T-Mobile they want you to go through their website and set up your account to utilize myemail.t-mobile.com as both your incoming and outgoing email servers. I could never get this to work and they had no idea what the problem was. "Let's delete that account and make a new one." kind of answers. They even insisted that on their end my account was not set up even though I could send a receive emails through it.
Finally, I just mimicked the mail settings from my desktop to the 650 and everything worked fine. You need to go through the advanced tabs to make sure the port numbers and correct and that the secure measures are the same but other than that...
Hope that helps

Are you being charged to send e-mails? I did the same thing today on my Nokia 6820. I just ordered a Treo 650 and am wondering if there will be a charge since I don't have the data plan thru T-Mobile.

From day one with the Treo 600, I contacted their support and asked them to set it up for me with a specific user name and password. That way everything agreed across the board.

I believe anything you do on the internet you will pay for or need a data plan. SMS (text) and picture mail (sprint) are separate services but the rest is data including e-mail.

Just wondering because I don't have a data plan but I was able to send and receive e-mails.

I would check with your carrier (like now) to see what the charges are for e-mailing. Some carriers charge a pretty good rate per kb downloaded.
Let us know what it is or if I am wrong and it is free.
