I had a Kyocera 7135 with Verizon before and all was good. It broke and I was shipped a Treo 650. They put me on a pay as you go plan which first month came to $85. all I do is pop my email with snapper. what a rip off.
Then I decided to change to Unlimited at $49 per month.
But no, since I have a family plan, it's $79 per month.
Even though my other phone is the cheapy phone that has no email or anything, they charge $79 per month for data.
Has anyone else had this experience? I am with Verizon in Los Angeles.
I've tried dial up using snapper but it won't work.
***************UPDATE*******************
I just called Verizon back 30 minutes leter and got a totally different answer.
As it turns out, I added the PDA/Smartphone data package that's $44.99 if you also have voice minutes and $49.99 if you don't.

The rep I spoke to earlier was trying to put me on the Broadband Access plan that uses a PCMCIA card for a Laptop. The Verizon reps need to understand that the Treo 650 does not use PCMCIA cards.
Anyway, for what it's worth, I'm going to bite the bullet and pay the $44.99 per month to get unlimited data minutes. I've been trying to get dial up to work for this whole month and am getting nowhere. Plus it's so slow it's unusable.
Conclusion, I'm starting to really enjoy the Treo 650. I'm still miss the Kyocera 7135.
Verizon Wireless is really the factor that I can do with out here. Got to be the worst trained reps I've ever dealt with.
