Verizon Treo650: TXT & PIX Without a Data Plan?
I have a Verizon Treo650. I don't use the internet or the e-mail services but, I do use text messaging and picture messaging.
My question is this, can I send text and picture messages without being charged a data usage fee? Is there another route I can use for sending and receiving a picture message without using the MMS service and being charged for data usage?
Verizon has been charging me a data usage fee if I send or receive a picture message. My fiance has a standard phone and can send text and pictures under an unlimited text and picture plan for $5/mth. Verizon tells me that because I have a Treo650 I'm charged for data usage for picture messaging because it uses a faster connection to transfer the data. I don't care, I just want to text and picture message like a regular phone.
I think I've explained the situation as well as possible. Please let me know what my options are.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

That's exactly why I use Sprint; you can't beat the price!
I don't think there is a way to do what you want, anythime you send a text meaage/picture it will connect to the verizon network to transmit.

Best price going! I loved my Sprint account.

First I've heard of that... I have unlimited data and just added the $10 text messaging plan. Sprint also beats Verizon on text packages. I guess I'm paying for all those people to follow me around. I think the $10 package only covers text. You might want to check with Verizon - I thought I remembered seeing a Text/Picture Message option.

Thanks For The Replies
It appears that I'm stuck with this situation. Verizon customer support doesn't even know what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if its me or them not communicating properly. Either way each call ends up with both parties very confused (and I upset).
I think the last person I had talked with set my account up with an automatic refund on data usage. I'm not sure how long that this will last. It may have been just for the past month. I'm going to keep an eye on it and let you know.
Thanks again,
