ok I am trying to use Versa Mail to get my Road Runner email account.

So this is what i did

I went into Versa Mail and under account setup i set up a new account and titled it road runner

For mail service i selected OTHER
    Protocol i selected POP

username: I put in my email address ****@cinci.rr.com
password: i put in the password for the email account

    email address: same as username
    incoming mail server: pop-server.cinci.rr.com
    outgoing mail server: smtp-server.cinci.rr.com

    then i selected done

Now in versa mail when i select GET i get a -ERR Authentication failed.

ok, i fixed my problem, but now I need a server for my outgoing mail. I thought i read on here somewhere that people were using Gmail's server to send from, does anyone know the outgoing mail server information for them?

You need to use the SMTP outgoing server of your wirless provider. Check out this thread which should help resolve the issues you are having.

on the account setup on the Treo do i need to go into the advanced settings and check the USE AUTHENTICATION (ESMTP) box.

I have been doing this and then using my gmail username and password

Well i got it to where i can send mail using gmail's outgoing server but now there is another problem.

If someone sends me an email to my *****@cinci.rr.com and then i get that message on my Treo. Then if i reply to that message with my Treo the email the person gets from me says that i sent it from my gmail account. I don't want that. I want it to be my Road Runner account so that if they reply to my message it will come back to me at my ****@cinci.rr.com account . How do i change this

Altough you are using VersaMail, this Snappermail ISP page might help.
