Versmail

Hi All,

I have a question regarding Versamail. After putting it off for the first three months of having my 650, I now want to set up my work mail to come through Versamail. Problem is is that everytime I select the Versamail icon from the applications menu it resets the Treo. I understand that I may have to delete the program and reload it or that there might be some other file that is conflicting with Versamail that is causing this problem. If this is the case can you go step by step on how to do this? Much appreciated!

Hello Chinoy11,

This is Kevin from palmOne. This could be the result of one of your VersaMail databases becoming corrupt. There is a step-by-step article for resolving this in the palmOne Knowledge Library article "VersaMail crashes or resets Treo 650" which you can read here.

If, by chance you have a Sprint Treo 650, there is an update that addresses this issue, which you can perform from here. Please note that this Treo 650 Updater 1.08 is only for Sprint branded phones and not compatible with other handhelds.

I had this same problem, called tech support and they had me do a hard reset which fixed the issue. They didn't elaborate as to what caused the problem.

Thanks Kevin and Jason! I will go with the FileZ solution once I get home. I have done a hard reset recently but it did not solve the issue. I will update as soon as I can.

I had this same issue, I have 9 Treo's and did some testing and found that when old Palm games are installed, the Versamail icon virtually becomes a "soft reset" button. STAY AWAY FROM OLD PALM APPS...

I also had another issue where everytime i dedicated some color coated codes for use in the calendar the treo would reset. I don't know what the cause was because it seemed to have resolved itself. My guess at this point is that when I downloaded KROMA and was changing my desktop colors that it had a conflict with the colors I was trying to set for my calendar events. Not sure if I made sense...Let me know what you think.

If you want to troubleshoot it, I would hard reset it, install apps one at a time. After every installation, select the Versamail icon, then when you find one tat resets it, hard reset it again. Then install the last app that made it reset. Install that ALONE, if it happens again, you'll have your culprit. If not, then it may be a combination of two or three or 23 installed apps. But, first, you should get at least version 1.08 on your Treo. It seemed to fix A LOT of my issues. I would start by testing the apps you are most unsure about...GOOD LUCK, please let me know what you find...
