Very Confused Help Please - Treo Forums

o.k i got my treo today..im using tmobile and i got an unlocked treo 650. i put my sim card in but when i go to my conctacts nothign comes up, its like its not reading my sim card. i also try to connect to the internet and it says its connecting through tmobile but then it cancels it. what do i do to get this up and running? what are the steps i take? someone PLEASE help me a.s.a.p ..im freakin out,, i just wanna start exploring!!!

I have to run out..but let me answer this question. You want to install Palm Desktop - put in one contact and then sync. Make sure everything works and then go ahead with entering the rest of your contacts. They will be store on the Treo itself and not the SIM card.

Is that an unlocked CDMA Treo 650 or GSM Treo 650?

I believe T-Mobile uses GSM.

That's all I can think of atm.

hey thanks for the quick replies..... its a GSM model. hey chris, so once i sync the phone with palm desktop(which i just installed) the sim card will read all my contacts off of my sim card? or do i physically have to enter all of my contatcs again??

also will it automatically read my data plan so i can jump in and use the internet immediatly(mail,chat,browsing) or do i have to set something up?

any begginer guidlines to get this phone up and runnign so to speak that you can think of i would appreciate!!

You have to physically enter the numbers into Palm Desktop. Then, whenver you change a number in either you Palm or desktop, it will sync between the two.

I'd suggest contact t-mobile regarding your data issues.

You're doing great. I'd suggest getting used to Palm Desktop and the applications on the Treo. Then, form there, try installing a program to extend the capabilities of you Treo. The Treo runs on the Palm OS which has literally thousands of programs making it a very powerful and useful device.

hey chris, i called tmobile and they of course said that they cannot help me on any issues dealing with a phone that they do not sell, so do you know of anyone that has an unlocked treo with tmobile? my data plan works right away with the sidekick but my treo doesnt recognize it. i cant use any internet etc.

Check the Sidekick's preferences to see if there any settings that can be copied over to the Treo. See how they compare to the Network preferences on the Treo. The answers to the correct network preferences, althought they don't support the Treo, should be something T-Mobile can/should supply.

alright im back,,,i got all my data plan figured out and its working great, the internet is ALOT quicker than i expected!! but there is somethign really annoying the piss outta me. everytime i hit the end button to put the screen on , then i unlock it, how the hell can i get the treo to stay on for awhile while im browssing:? i sware if im not constantly on the screen (if im reading) for more than lieke 10 seconds the screen turns off on me! i cant find it in the manual...also can anyone tell me how to type in the correct ip and stuff for my aol email address? i thought i ddi it right but it wont connect..

also in the top right corner i dont have any signal tower or strength,,i only have two little green arrows. but i make and recieve calls with great reception and clarity. where did that stuff go? or will it only come up in certain areas??

Go to main menu-> prefs-> power. You will see the option to extend the time before your treo powers off.

You should have the signal bars...but its better to have no bars than no signal!
