Very Slow Email Response

Over the last few months, the response time in the Treo 650 has gotten progressively slower. For example, when putting a check mark beside a message to delete, the 650 may take from 4 to 15 seconds to register the checkmark. Also, when scrolling down the new emails, the delay may be up to 30 seconds before the screen responds. I've deleted mail in the trash so that is apparently not the problem...has anyone experienced a similar problem?

I am probably the last one that should be offering advice since I am still a new member myself but here is my idea.

Have you ever tried a a reset by using the stylus by the battery? I have had a couple times where things just did not seem right and that solved it.

It seems that everything that causes Treo problems is a result of third-party software. I would assume that some program is running in the back that is consuming a large amount of memory. The typical, uninstall some of your addon programs and see if that helps speech, seems about right as well.

I would make sure that most software is installed on a memory card. Since a chipmunk has a bigger memory capacity than our Treos, too many programs can be bogging it down.

I found versamail to me really slow at times, pausing for up to 30 seconds. drove me crazy. I got snapper mail for $40 which is excellent! but then if you password your phone, it wont check the mail unless you enter the password so i had to get TealLock which will password the phone and allow specified applications to run. So now my phone locks after 5 minutes of no use, but the email still checks and everything is great. worth the $60 to have the phone respond much faster than Versamail does.
