Question Videos on the Treo 650

This is my first time using this site, but I have exhausted all other options in trying to figure out how to watch movies on my Treo 650.

I have been researching programs to use in order to watch them, and in the process have downloaded a number of different programs: TCPMP, Audio GK, DVD Shrink, VOB Sub, and XVid. While the TCPMP has seemed to be the best option for watching movies on the Treo, all of the other programs don't seem to be working properly.

I have downloaded movies onto my computer and have been trying to put them on my phone, but every time I put them on my card and go to play them, I get a message that the phone does not recognize that type of media an .avi file. Then I tried to load an iTunes movie onto the card, and the card was too small, so I was looking for a shrink program for iTunes movies but have been unsuccessful.

Basically, I am looking for any way to put movies onto my treo and watch them. As you can tell I have tried many different options but none seem to be working. If anyone has had any success in putting movies they have downloaded onto their phone I would greatly appreciate the help, and I would also like to know how to take actual DVD's and put them on my computer and then onto the phone.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I use handbrake (free program for mac leapard). I am sure their are some for windows. I don't know if handbrake works with windows. It will shrink your dvds down to fit your screen. I use tcpmp to play the movie. I did have to search for the audio plug in on the net to get it to work.

    Used this thread for instructions.

keep the TCPMP on your card, that definitely will play .avi video. DVD Shrink, that only shrinks .vob DVD files so that you can rip an entire DVD movie and shrink it to fit onto a regular DVD writeable disc. You don't want to use that at all for your treo videos.

After you rip the movie using DVD Decrypter, then you can use this wonderful free program called Pocket DivX Encoder. With this you open up the DVD files you just ripped and it will encode it as a tiny .avi file - you can even choose your output size by little photos of different portable devices, like a cell phone, PDA, etc. I use the PDA size that will make your video a 320 x 240 size, just perfect for the treo. When it is done, put that .avi file onto your card, it should be around 200-300MB in size. Open it in TCPMP player.

Handbrake will do it all. Just plug your dvd in and open handbrake and set the settings you want (see previous post for instructions) and it makes the copy for your treo. Dollface is right definety use your card.

Plunker, I'll look into Handbrake. The reason I use DVD Decrypter is that I also make a full size DVD copy onto a blank DVD, for our back up collection, and then I can also use the ripped files to make a copy for my treo.
