Love the phone but watch out... my screen cracked.... BE very careful with it. I was.. didn't drop it... had it in a hard case and my screen still cracked.... now they ( phone co. )
want 300 canadian to fix it.!!! I could understand if I dropped it but this is bad.

Not worth it...... people may say treos are better but their screens are way too delicate for my liking. Im going to blackberry.

Have you tried Palm? Not sure how much they charge, but I'm guessing around $175 US - not sure how much that translates in CA.

I believe that would be about $4372 CAD...

Actually because of your Republican government and your high deficit the Canadian dollar is almost at par.... today it was almost 90 cents to the U.S. dollar and moving higher.
I found a screen on Ebay... but no one has still been able to tell me whether its the glass or the screen that has to be replaced...does anyone know out there??? The LCD.. is fine.. there is just a crack on the glass part.

I would try the site recommended on the other thread you started for more info. I would think that it comes as a unit. If it installs as parts I would have a service department do it.

I couldn't find anything specific to the Treo. I remember reading an article quite a while ago explaining how the touchscreen worked for a previous Palm device. IIRC, it was pretty similar to this. In any event, it's a single unit, unless you can find the individual components and have access to a clean room.

Gethightech sells it ONLY as a unit. I’ve replace the screen on an earlier palm (a beloved IIIxe) and I’m not sure I would want to tackle the replacement in a smaller unit. This is one of those times that you break a $2 part but can only fix it with a $100 ($119 to be exact) kit.

Well I will buy the part on ebay and get someone to install it. the part ( screen )
I got for $ 60 U.S. and its brand new... ( + shipping ) soooo Im sure I can find someone
to install it for cheap. Still better than spending $ 350 to get it fixed from the dealer
thats before taxes!

The GetHighTech web site does have excellent free repair video’s for many palm models and is a good place to check. I just checked and they do not have the Treo 650 up yet. The 600 is there. Since I never had a 600 I don’t know how similar they are.
