Default Waste of Time and $.

As I read through one thread after another of Treo 650 problems and short comings it has become clear to me that palm has placed a product in the market that can only be labeled as "right track, wrong train". I have had nothing but problems with mine since the day it arrived. The unlocked 650 has given me problems, too numerous to mention in one thread and they have become worse with each passing day. Now, even after a hard reset, I can't get past the stylus calibration. FROZEN. The only thing worse than what they charge for this piece of crap is dealing with the morons in Palm's tech support. Goin' back to my Blackberry.

Don't know if I can help salvage this. Sounds like you already made up your mind but if I can help let me know!

Mine has been rock solid for 2 1/2 weeks now.

Thanks for the offer, but if you have a solution for this 650 not even responding to the stylus setup after a hard reset, then you may well consider rendering your services to Palm for a $ figure of your choosing! I can't even get it past that point. As I sit here waiting for Palm support, my hair turning grey, my children growing up, I would gladly embrace any help to get this paperweight up and running.

Thanks!

I have to wonder given how erratic my Treo's behavior and ultimated demise was, that it didn't get hit with a virus. My limited homework suggest they do exist but I don't know much about them. Can they do damage as extensive as effecting the ROM? If in fact hey exist is there a prevention?

There is Anti Virus software for Palm OS but there really is no need for. There have been absolutley no issues with viruses affect the palm. There too busy screwing up Microsoft's world! :D

Music or Audio Not me!

If you're going to pitch your Treo, please pitch it my way!

I did have trouble with mine, but as soon as I quit installing every new piece of software that caught my attention and focused on stablizing my Treo before adding new stuff, I've had no problems! I wouldn't settle for anything else now!

I too have not had any issues (not caused by me) with my Treo. Once I got rid of the uncompatible apps and quit installing things that were cool (but unneeded), I have not had any issues what so ever.

Post Suggestion, if I may.

I usually do not post, unless I feel strongly enough about something. Who did you get your phone from? Unlocked means probably a Cingular phone, or you bought one somewhere unlocked and non-badged. How long ago did you get it? Maybe the unlock code somehow screwed up the ROM? (Just thinking of possible reasons) I only mention these few things because I have the VZW 650 and am very happy with the phone. I had the 600 and the 650 is definitely an improvement in every aspect. Unfortunately, my hardware and yours is like apples and oranges. I hope you can work with whomever you bought the phone from and can get a swap or Palmone can reflash (or whatever) your phone with clean code.

Ditto here, I'm dialed now. I'm only installing updates now.

Could you post a list of incompatable apps?
Thanks,

Tanya
