Default water damage to my brand new Treo!!

ok, so i accidently spilled a bottle of water in my purse, and my treo got wet...soaked in fact. there is water in the screen. i brought it to Verizon because i bought the monthly warranty with it, and apparently the warranty doesn't cover water damage.

i'm bugging out, this treo is 3 weeks old, and cost $300... my parents are going to kill me.

a few people told me to "dry it out" by placing it near a radiator or something... but it hasn't worked so far...

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE? PLEASE. I AM DESPERATE. THANKS.

A friend of mine dropped his Treo in the toilet and then it got lost. The warranty does cover lost Treo's.
Losing it better than getting it wet.

I have removed the battery and let the phone sit over night or longer and it has started to work.

Once it dries out unless something burned up your phone should work. Of course there was that one time my screen looked like a fish bowl.....

My Treo just had a cup of coffee this morning and had an episode of strange behaviour.

Its lunch time now and everything seems to be working fine.

Now whne I make a phone call I smell Starbucks...........

I used a can of compressed air here in my office to help the key board out a bit.

A couple of the keys were not working so I set it face down and let it dry out.

I then wiped it down with an alcohol pad and re-sprayed the compressed air and BINGO!

    no probs

    Blue:

I like the way Shady thinks...Hmmm, screen name Shady!!!

From what I recall reading on these boards over the past year or so is that once submerged, the key is to allow enough time for Everything (in the) Treo to COMPLETELY dry out before attempting to start it up. That could be a matter of two to three days since it is a closed case.

By the way your note is written, I am assuming you already tried to start it up and I don't think that there is much you can do at this point. I believe I have seen some notes about partial restoration of some features, but that probably isn't going to help you.

Of course that would be only if you found the lost unit....

    Good luck,
    SteveTaz

I had the fishbowl thing in the screen going after a dunk. Very disturbing. Read someones good advice to bake it on the dash of your car, which like a miracle worked for me.

I would let it sit without the battery face down on a towel for a couple of days. My second Treo 600 got soaked heavily from a hose and came back to life after two hours of indirect sunlight.

I think benjie's point about removing the battery is key. Hell, at this point I wouldn't be worried about voiding the warranty, I'd even take the Treo apart to let it dry more thoroughly.
