Default Web on Treo 650

I am strongly considering the Treo 650 as my next phone with Sprint Service. I am currently a Nextel customer and I am finding myself away from my office more and more. I drive 100 miles for work daily and I would like access to my email, contacts, schedule. I am pretty confident that the Treo can do all of those tasks very well. But, I am concerned with the web access. I have never been on the web without using a laptop or desktop. Does it look the same on a smartphone or pda? Can you go to any website or are there a certain few? Any reply is greatly appreciated!

Default web

I have been using Palm Handhelds for a while. I just recently went to a Treo smartphone. for my experience, the web is slower but I can access all of the same websites I would on my laptop. Of course, given the limited amount of real estate on the screen, you may have to pan to see the entire page. I guess what I am really saying is, yes, there are some sites designed for handhelds and smart phones that load faster and resize the page for viewing. Others may not have those features, but can be accessed via a Treo smartphone. Hope that kind of answers your question.

I echo the thoughts of Dredlocks. Unlike WAP phones, you do have full access to the web. That being said, it will be much slower than your home connection. I have broadband at home, so the speed difference when accessing the web from my Treo is apparent. I try and use mobile optimized sites. If I do have to download a "regular" site, I do find comfort knowing the Treo will be able to access it.

The other option is to get PDANet and use your Treo as a modem. Many here have done it with great success.

Default C'mon S60 browser!

Now all we have to do is pray. Pray that the S60 browser gets a PalmOS front. It's open source, based of Apple's screamingly fast Safari Web/JavaScript core, customized for mobile applications, and looks taaaaaaasty:
