Default Webpage Browsing on Treo, Wifi, what's the difference?

I know this may be a ridiculous question but I honestly cannot figure it out.

I just purchased my unlocked Cingular branded Treo two days ago. I do not currently have internet service with my provider but have been reading up on it before ordering it.

I was reading in the instruction manual that the Treo can browse nearly every webpage I can browse on my computer. I know the Treo 650 does not have built in wifi, so, my question is, why would I even need it? What's the difference between wifi and the current browsing capabilities of the Treo that I could have with a simple addition of internet service. I've read that many people are disappointed that the Treo doesn't have wifi and, although I do not currently have internet service on the phone and cannot see anything for myself, it seems almost as if I could basically surf the internet no questions asked?

I just need a little clarification! Thanks!

The difference in the plans offered by your carriers and your wifi provideris cost and possibly speed. Some internet plans charge by how much you download or upload. My carrier is sprint and they are basically unlimited for the cost of the service. Other carriers are unlimited but from what I've heard here more costly.
