Weird problem(s) with treo... any ideas?
So I got a refurbished 650 about 6 months ago and for the last 2 months or so I've been having an intermittent problem with the speaker. On about 1/3 of my calls, the speaker will cut out when, and only when, the phone is placed up to my ear. If I remove the phone from my ear, i can hear the person on the other end of the line. And, before you ask, no... I don't have a metal plate in my head. It's happened to my girlfriend a few times, and she doesn't possess a metal head plate either. It does the same thing sometimes with the speaker phone feature. It only happens when the phone is near someones head. It's mind boggling the hell out of me. The treo seems to drop more calls than other phones I've had... So I'm not particularly thrilled with this smartphone. I took it to the Sprint Technician (yeah, they suck... i know) He took one look at it and says "uhh.. you got it wet. hope you have insurance." It hasn't been wet, dropped, or damaged in any way. I have a good case for it, and it's taken care of. Anybody have any ideas... this is really starting to get irritating. Thanks.

Could still be a connection problem - either open it yourself and check or see a service center. You just described by Nextel smartphone - it was doing exactly the same thing and it turned out to be an intermittent connection problem. Ben

Hey thanks man... do you happen to know what connection that is?

Mine was a wire that had come loose and was erratically touching when the device was moved. It made no difference what angle the device was ultimately placed at, just the movement itself.
