What are Media Files viz a viz the 650? - Treo Forums

The last month or so whenever I have tried to install a new program or do a hotsync my T650 has seemed to get stuck on the hotsync process. It seems to be working but I have left it for almost 2 hours and it doesn’t finish. I then have to manually abort the process. Any new programs are installed ok. It seems to happen when syncing “Media” files.

My question – what are media files? What program do they relate to? Photos. I deleted most of them but it still happens. I have now programmed the 650 to do nothing with media files but I would still like to know what I am not hotsyncing. Also someone may know the answer to my hotsync problem and a remedy. Thanks.

shamelessly bumping the thread. i'm suffering the same problem but ONLY on one of three computers i synch with. so there's SOMETHING not right somewhere local....

ideas?

Make sure that you have any updates, patches that Palm has released first. As well as the Palm desktop update. If you have all of that and it still happens, try the below.

This issue might be with your queries.pdb file. Here is something to try:
Go to C:\Program Files\PalmOne\(your username)
Click and move the folder titled backup to your desktop.
Sync
If you get thru the whole sync, then the issue was with a file in that folder.

If you are not able to go thru a whole sync still you would want to do the above, and do a hard reset. Then do a fresh sync with a temporary user name to see if that happens again. If not, then hard reset and sync with the old user name but NOT with the backup folder in your old user name. Install all apps one at a time and you might end up with amore stable hotsync process.

My reasoning for doing this is that I think that there might be some corruption with the hotsync speaking with your treo at that point of the sync, or at another part and it manifests itself there.
