    Default What does this mean??

Well I just recently bought a almost new 650 off ebay last week, and have been using it for roughly 5 days. I really like it except seems I have the common resetting problem. When I got it I did some searching and have been reading this forum constantly. I updated to 1.05 software. I have also downloaded solitaire and mRing demo to my phone. My phone will, 4-5 times a day go into key guard lock, and not come out of it.. so when I press end call key or any other button the screen just stays off until I do a soft reset. I did a hard reset and resynched everything and its still the same. So this time I deleted solitaire of my phone then synched my computer then did another hard reset and got this:

    Already exists:C:\ProgramFiles\palmOne\treof\backup\Connec tionMgr50DB.PDB

I don't know what the hell this means? But I'm hoping its either solitaire or mRing thats causing the lock ups because this is a great phone otherwise.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Like I've said I have only had the phone 5 or 6 days, and don't know much about the ins and outs of it. I just hate having to take the cover off, getting the stylus and soft resetting it constantly, I'm missing phone calls and just a general PITA.

    Thanks
    Jason

I have no idea how or why that message shows up after a hard reset because your treo should be clean of everything.

I would try a hard reset again to get your phone back to factory stuff. Then use it for awhile before you sync so you know it is not the phone. Then do a sync with your computer (without the two programs) and see if everything is still OK. Still good to go sync the programs one at a time testing the treo for resets before installing the next program.

I am guessing this database file is in your back up folder. What I would suggest you do, (since you only have two trials installed) is to once more perform a hard reset. But this time before you sync back, remove the contents of your back up folder. (c:/program files/Palmone/yourusername/backup. Put these files in a folder called old back up or something similar. Then perform the sync and see if you get this connection manager database error. If there is anything you need back in your back up folder, add them (ONE AT A TIME) Go slow! Give each new app you install a day or so to determine if it is compatible with your device/setup . .
Also, consider a good uninstaller and a good device based back up program as necessaries.

Was the Palm Desktop software a clean install, or were you already using a Palm device?

No this is my first ever Palm device and the first time I've had software from palm on my computer.

I did a hard reset last night, and didn't synch anything to the palm, and it still did the same thing last night while I had it charging it froze up on me. It's actually done it twice already this morning after a fresh hard reset last night.

Flosho, the only thing I can think of to try is a factory reset.
Factory Reset for Treo 650 smartphones If you've set a password on your smartphone, any hard reset will automatically become a Factory Reset. With this method, you'll enter a password and then perform a hard reset.
    1. On your smartphone, launch the Security application.
    2. If the Password box says "Unassigned," tap the box and create a password for your smartphone.
    3. Once the password has been set, disconnect your smartphone from the AC charger and take off the battery cover. Do not remove the battery yet.
    4. Hold down Power/End .
    5. While holding down Power/End , remove the battery. Then insert it again.
    6. While still holding Power/End , the screen will show the palmOne or Palm logo and a progress bar. Then the circular Palm Powered logo will appear. Release the power button when you see the Palm Powered logo.
Keep holding the Power button during this screen. When you see this screen, you can release the Power button.
    7. A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your smartphone. Press UP.
    8. You'll see a series of Palm logo screens, then a prompt to tap onscreen targets. The Factory Reset is complete.

Not good that your treo is resetting with nothing on it. I don't believe that a hard set changes the version you have on the treo. You might do a zero reset on the treo and see if that corrects the problem.

The zero out reset (I've never done one) may take you to the previous version. If it does test the treo on the original version for a few days. If it is ok then update to the newer version. Again I am assuming the version will change with the reset. I hope someone will have more info.

So I'm pretty screwed? You think I could take my ebay bought phone into alltel and have it looked at under warranty service?

I've emailed the seller 2 times so far.. No reply though.

I am not sure about alltel but Sprint gives you 30 days from activation to get insurance through them. Once you have insurance you can pay the deductable and get the phone repaired/or replaced.
