Where is Treo support for BT headset voice dialing?
It seems that even if your BT headset says it can do voice dialing, it doesn't mean that your Treo will support it. Right now, it looks like the only BT speaking devices that a Treo 650 supports are the "car kits". It's almost alarming that the Treo would only support car kits for voice promted dialing through BT. One can't help but think this is deliberate.
Apparently the included wired ear-mic set will let you do voice tags, but you seemingly need a software app on your phone. Perhaps this means that your BT headset that says it can do voice tags can only do it if there is a software app on your phone waiting to facilitate a voice tag. Because when your Treo tells you that it needs to be setup through your headset, what it is saying is that Palm didn't really include a way for you do to voice tags. It is saying your phone needs to have a button combination to tell the Treo you are about to enter a recording for a voice tag. Your headset needs to be able to tell your Treo, "hey, here's a voice tag. Now call the number associated with that recording."
Now it would seem to me that the answer is simple. If you have a BT headset that supports redialing, the redial command should open the app that gets ready to compare your voice to the DB of voice tags. If you say "redial", it redials. Duh.
But we can't assume that all BT headset manufacturers are jackasses. We can't assume that the folks out there who make those third party Palm Treo 650 voice applications are jackasses. We have to assume that Palm has chosen to allow a few car kit BT speaker system makers to have a monoply on BT driven voice dialing market. Or at least I do...

Not sure why Palm and treo decided it is unimportant to use the voice dialing but there are apps out there. BT voice dialing I am not aware of any that work...
I feel your pain and totally agree with you.

The thing that also confuses me is that other phones that are palm based have folks making custom applications for it. Why can't someone rewrite the way their program works so that it can interact with the BT API?
I moved to a 650 from the Samsung I330 which was Palm based too. It had all kinds of free apps that had huge functionality. Apps that rewrote the way that the I330's functionality worked.
Is it that you have to license your application with someone to give it bluetooth functionality?

I guess we know why...
"PalmOne implemented the Sound Streaming API calls wrong with Blue Tooth. We, along with all other PalmOS™ developers are waiting for PalmOne to patch the firmware to allow these API calls to work 100%."

as to why their software only works with wired headsets.
LET'S GO PALM, DO YOUR JOB
