I've been looking into TomTom myself. I believe the maps are all on the CDs. You just install the specific ones that you need.

I thought so, don't know where or who he got it from but when he installed it, it told him no maps where found. So I thought I could help out by trying to find out where we could get a hold of it, frankly I would like to see how this thing really works before paying $300

All of the maps are on the CD's - and it works quite well. Here's a review of TomTom. Once you get past activation, it's a great product. I highly recommend it.

I see a couple people on ebay selling tomtom 5 for under 130 just the SW, the part that goes on the glass to hold, is that needed for the treo to work or is it just for comfort so you don't have to hold it?

Hmmm? Not sure what you mean? Are you talking about a car mount? No, that's not needed - but comes as part of the Palm bundle. You will need a GPS receiver.

I don't want to diminish the value of a car mount. You will be looking back and forth between the Treo and the road. I made the mistake of placing my Treo into my existing iPod mount -- and sometimes that is not the safest. For that matter, neither is checking my email while driving...

Maps are on CD #2-#7(?). There should be labels on the CD.

Chris, I totally agree with you. It is really not safe to check e-mail while driving. But who can resist that "beep" sound? Not me
