This is a discussion on which battery is better? within the Treo Smartphones forums; i have been searching for a stronger battery. one that will last longer then the original one that comes with ...

I'll bite. I have very little experience with cell phone batteries but............marine or cranking batteries last longer depending on there amp/hour rating not the voltage.
The voltage is set to operate the phone. The amps will provide the volts for a certain period of time. Your two batteries provide the same amp/hour so I'll go out on a limb here and say they are the same or da-n close.
I'll stand by my statements until someone else posts!!

Well, since plunker so bravely jumped in first, I'll go next.
I wouldn't give you a nickel's difference in them. I currently own two batteries. The OEM one and another one out of China, that I bought on ebay for about $6.00 Both are the same as far as volts, and both seem to last about the same on a full charge. If it were me, and I had it narrowed to to these two, I would probably buy on price alone . . . .

i did a search on other places and someone did a small test on the phone with the 2400mah vs. the stocker. 1800mah. he said there is a small increase but not the 33% the manufacturer claims. others chimed in on his test and added that they got roughly about 10% better usage. has anyone here used one that said tthe 2400 mah? is there a small or bigger difference on your personal experience?

so would you guys think it would be more cost effective and more efficient to just buy a car charger or should i just get an extra batt. my batt seems to die in about a full day's use and before i can get home to charge it, most of the time now. i have recently added verichat and its fun but it just drains the battery life like no tomarrow. before the added program it would run for days without a charge. i would wait for at least 2 to 3 days just to get it at 40 percent and then charge it. if not the battery would be about 90% on the 1st day and then about 70% on the second day. and i dont want to over charge it so i would wait to get about 40% or lower then give it a good over night charge.

If you are in your office or a car an extra charger is a must. I can't stand to be on the road with a low battery.

I run Chatter email from 5:00 in the morning until 11:00 each day! I also download my quicknews updates over the air twice a day. I have IM+ but don't use it daily. Without a charge I am usually down to <30% battery life when I go to bed each night . . . Thats without charging period. Since I am in an office environment, I keep a sync cable that also recharges the battery at my computer. I plug it up and let it charge 3-5 hours each day and usually leave the office with >70% battery life. I also have an auto charger. It doesn't see much action, because I am not in my car much throughout the day. I will say though that it seems to charge my Treo fairly quickly. In a 15 mile stretch that I travel often, I get about 16-22% boost in battery level.
Not knowing what your typical day might entail, it would be hard for anyone here to discern what might be best for you. If you spend a good part of your day in an automobile, I would say grab the car charger. If you are in an office a big part of your day, an extra charger or sync cable that charges would be best. If neither of these are available, I would suggest an extended battery, along with a good way to charge it.
I do have an extra battery that I picked up on ebay a while back. Its just that! An Extra! I meant to cycle the two batteries in and out of my Treo, but it doesn't happen much . . Like I say, for me, the solution was the sync cable that charges . . . .

thanks guys, keep it comming.
wow i didnt even know about the usb being a charger as well. that seems like a good product. will it charge as fast and as well as the regular wall charger? i ask because i know that car chargers are not as good as wall chargers. they seem to not charge completely and fully.
as for a car charger i found this little gem. its a car holder and charger at the same time.

- Rapid and trickle charges device
- Charging cable permanently attached to holder
- Straight charging cable for fixed installation
- Custom fit to your device
- Holds device securely
- Keeps your device within easy reach
- Easily slide device in and out
- Keeps your device upright for better cellular/GPS reception
- Neat and discreet design blends well with vehicle's interior
- Holder can tilt 15 degrees in any direction and swivel 360 degrees
- Made of heat and cold resistant ABS plastic

yea the store here has several variations on a car cradle.
My sync cable seems to charge just as fast as the wall charger. As far as the 12v being just as fast, I can't say for sure, because in about 7 months I have only used mine 2-3 times and that has been for fairly short durations. I did pay close attention once on the 15 miles stretch I mentioned above, and that led me to believe that it actually charges pretty fast, but as far as whether or not it charges faster/slower I don't know for certain.
Hopefully someone here will have had more experience with me and can chime in . . .
