Which PDA solution would be right for me?
I currently have a Motorola MPX220 and it is on its last leg. I am trying to decide between a BB 8600 and a Treo 650, I am with Cingular. At this time the only functions I use are the calendar and contacts. I have over 1500, that is why a reguar cell won't work.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to ET, fshack. As you would probably guess, people on this site will be biased toward the Treo. Unless you're absolutely tied to BB by work, I believe the Treo offers much more. You'll get your PIM (calendar, contacts, etc.) from either one. They can both do email. After that, in my opinion, the Treo starts outdistancing the BB. When you consider watching movies, listening to mp3's, the better web surfing and all the apps available for you to customize your Treo to suit your needs, I think you may find yourself leaning toward the 650. Take some time and browse this forum and check out the 650 KnowledgeBase, too. If you have specific questions, feel free to post away.

I agree with the moderator's statement. The Treo 650/700 series does so much more than a BB. Email capabilities, general use, editing, the apps - my wife went from a BB to my Treo 650 and has not missed her BBs. My boss though went from a BB to a 700w and back to the latest BB and has not missed the 700w (memory issues).
When I up'd to my 700p, I took time to test drive some Windows devices and one BB (the latest one from Nextel) and chose the 700p. A short while after that I also purchased a 700w and have had no serious issues with it, though it does have memory leak problems and really needs more memory.
I used my Sprint Treo 650 (now in my wife's hands) in a business environment and once I was able to get it set up properly, it worked really well. The 700p I have is also used in the same environment and frankly, it has become as essential to my work as the 650 was. As a note, I also have a Nextel i605 Bluetooth enabled phone; I do not use the 650/700p for its phone capabilities. What I do like about the Treo though is its simplicity and the ability to customize it. The 700W is also simple to use, but I really do not care for the Windows interface.

Coming from a BB 7250, I missed my treo so much...that I sold it. Even though my work is biased towars BB's, I would rather jump through a few hoops and use a treo. Think of it this way... a BB is kind of like a Macintosh ( I am a Mac User to...) they are great and do the job, but are very limited when it comes to software and integrating with other devices.

Thinking outside the box for a sec (no pun intended). If all you're using is calendar and contacts why get a smartphone at all? You could get a simple PDA, palm or otherwise, and an inexpensive Cingular phone (many are perfectly fine). 'Course the Treo gives you lots of room to grow if you decide you want to expand what you use it for.

Quick thought about that...I NEVER used my PDA's in the past becuase I HATED carrying around a PDA and a cell phone...got too bulky and so I never had my PDA with me. Now that I have it combined, I ALWAYS use my PDA...I can't live without it! I don't use the internet function, I really don't need access other than on my laptop or my desktop at home. I do have WI-FI at both home and work, so that helps me out. I do have a pay-per-use plan at $.01 per kb, but the most I ever do is look up a phone number through Agendus (I mean Directory Assistance with Cingular is $1.75 now!) or maybe a movie time, but I have Avantgo for that. All in all, you can utilize MOST of the Treo without the need for internet.

it is difficult to know the use and value of something if you haven't tried it. i think most of us are 90/10 folk. (90% of users use 10% of capabilities) but only by checking the fora and utilising the opportunities have i made more use of devices and programs.
for my part this is the perfect solution of phone AND pda (which is INSTEAD of a laptop). i couldn't be as effective without it now.
but as kdallen sensibly points out; you are going to get a fairly one sided view here.
