| Why do all my messages get re-downloaded Hello, I have a treo and have been using it normally to send and receive emails using a pop3 smtp server at my company, (I also manage the smtp server). From time to time I recive messages that have already been downloaded to my treo as new emails, but this morning my entire inbox was downloaded again, users also experienced the same symptoms. Blackberry users did not, nothing was done to the server to have the devices redownload the entire inbox. Has anybody experience this problem?
Thanks for any advice. |

Thanks for any advice. | i think probably you are getting the emails all again when you sync?? Right??? if not then im not sure but if you are getting it when you sync all you have to do is go down to the hot sync in your toolbar on your computer (the blue and red circle with arrows) clik on that and then go to custom then go to versamail or whatever mail service you are using thats in the list clik on that and change your setting then clik done.
Every once in a while it will go back to the default setting for some reason so you have to check on this thing from time to time. i just check it before i sync all the time cause i hate having to delete emails

| Not using any type of synching software Hello monizk, unfortunately I'm not using any type of synching software, all me and my users are using is Versa mail to download emails as they come in with a pop3 connection.
Thanks for the reply, but that's not my case. |

Thanks for the reply, but that's not my case. | So, you guys NEVER sync your Treo with your desktop? I do everyday for my Outlook items (well, everyday as in the past 3 days - I just got mine this week!). That is what he is talking about - if you are using Versamail, then set it up to sync with your "desktop" email. Also, you might start looking around and learning about mail options - other clients and POP vs IMAP as options for your work email. |

Thanks for the reply, but that's not my case. | So basically, they delete their e-mail on the handheld, then get it again the next time Versamail downloads? That's because the POP protocol provides no way of tracking previously downloaded messages. A typical POP client will delete messages from the server after downloading them, Versamail doesn't do this, so they're left on the server to be downloaded again.
A workaround is to only delete messages on the Treo that are older than the setting in Preferences, Delivery Options. In other words, if you're only downloading mail from the last week, your users should be able to delete messages 8 days or older without having them reappear on the Treo.

I got my mail on versamail to only dowload mail from the last day. So i went to delete messages and they deleted from the server also. but when i synced with my computer about 150 messages were dowloaded into my phone. But all i did was change my sync preference and it hasnt happened since.
