Default Yes or No - Is there true BlackBerry type "push" email or not??

I traded my BlackBerry for this under promises from Cingluar that I could get the same email functionality as I had on the BB. So far I have not found it. What Cingular was referring to was something that I have to install on my home PC that would check an email account and then send the email to my Treo (Xpress Mail). I am currently trying Chattermail which also promised "push" email but unless I am doing something wrong, I still have to set the Treo to 'sync' every 5 minutes in order to receive messages in a timely manner, which it seems I could do just as well using VersaMail... I don't get it, can someone explain this to me?

Also (and I am only assuming this is related) when I set the email to be checked every 5 minutes, my battery barely lasts one day. At the end of the day it is down to 10%... Is this normal?

I like the Treo a LOT, but this could be a show stopper for me.

    Thanks

In order to get true push email, you have to have an IMAP email account vs POP. I use chattermail with fastmail (a IMAP account) and get messages instantly. When you have an IMAP account, the settings on chattermail gives you the option of what hours you want to link chattermail to the mail server, not how often to check.
I have it connected except at 10pm to 8am, when I dont want to be bothered.
That said, you can easily have a pop mail account forward your mail to an IMAP mail account and have chattermail retrieve the IMAP mail. I use this method for gmail(pop).

Is it necessary to sign up for the Full Account to get POP mail, from my Comcast email for example? Or is the Member Account sufficient for this?

it won't be required if u have mail forwarding. like in gmail u can specify an address where all ur incoming email will be forwarded to. so whenever u receive a mail in gmail, it's automatically forwarded to ur fastmail account and within a few sec u get notified by chatter.

the catch is that u won't be able to send mails through smtp from the free account. but that's not a problem, u can always send it thru the pop account which i'm sure u must already have setup on ur treo, be it on chatter, versa or snappermail.

i really like fusemail (http://www.fusemail.com) a lot though, u can have ur hotmail, yahoo and other accounts all fused into one, and receive ur mail instantaneously (push) through chatter. it's not free though.
