Everyday at noon my 680's screen turns on automatically. No alerts, no nothing enabled. What hidden feature is on?

When I upgrade from my 650 to the 680 do i have to change my text messagine plan? Right now i have the $10.00 for 1000 messages and i dont want to pay $19.99 for 3000 and 200 is not enough. You would think that cingular could come up with a decent middle plan- or even better include unlimited...

I was told there are some differences between buying a Treo 680 thru Cingular or Palm. Most importantly, the Palm warranty is becames invalid thru Cingular. Can anyone elaborate? thanks. Any other differences that potential buyers should be aware?
