I can tell you guys right now why the BlackJack phone sucks on service. My best friend is a Regional Manager for Cingular, and when I traded in my 650, I was gonna get one. He told me to wait about a year, bc the Blackjack is on a new network Cingular is changing to, and there aren't many towers up yet. So, the reception sucks! I went with the 680, and I like it.

I am not doubting your friend! He is probably talking about HSDPA vs EDGE connections, and that is certainly superior to EDGE. (all the 680 is capable of is EDGE) IMHO, there are many reasons why the 680 is superior to the BJ, that has nothing to do with network towers. - IMAP email with Chatteremail vs pocket Outlook that doesn't have PUSH capability and to my knowledge, no support in this area period
- A touch Screen in addition to 5 way navigation
- Palm OS vs a crippled version of WM05
- Threaded IMing like a chat session
- As terrible as my battery life is with the 680, I am hearing similar stories (maybe worse) with the BJ because its trying to access both HSDPA and EDGE at the same time. Because there are not that many HSDPA towers this is causing additional drain on the battery. (I am told there is a hack for this, and not for the amateur)
- The keypad is not as friendly as the Treo (at least thats what I have read by users who have tried both and much preferred the Treo's KB to the BJ)
- SD vs Mini SD (SD is cheaper)
Don't get me wrong! There is much to like about the BlackJack! The size being the most appealing to me. And the price ain't bad either! But to compare the two side by side, the 680 is the more capable device (at least to me)

680 Issues Reply to Thread
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the battery issue also. He said that Samsung gives you an extra battery when you buy the BlackJack, bc they made the battery so small to accomodate the size appeal, and it doesn't hold a charge for that long.

I'm hearing all these battery problems with the 680 but I think because I just purchased mine a week ago, it seems just fine. I dont think it is as stellar as my 600 was (held a charge for a long time) but certainly adequate for the better screen and camera. So my point is that if someone is thinking about purchasing a 680, the battery problem seems to have been addressed.
Dont know about the Blackjack but it doesn't sound very positive.

Phone App Freeze
Once about every two days my 680 will freeze on an incoming calls. The caller ID will show who is calling and it will ring but the touch screen answer key nor the green key will allow me to answer. Once the call goes unanswered the AT&T network marker (top left corner) changes to a bunch of random characters. I will turn my phone off and then on again and everything is fine. I am tired of missing calls! Please help.

install the ROM update that was released yesterday. It's on palm's website in the support section. That should fix your issues.

I was exiled to the "it must be [always not their problem]" desolate back side of the desert today when I was seeking an answer to the problem I was experiencing. Not that this is the first time that I have had to play this "hide go and seek" game. It sure seems as if the hardware people and the software people had to really stretch the definition of what 24/7 support is, but nonetheless I have not been able to resolve my problem which brought me to this site.
What I am trying to get a straight answer to in the feature called "voice memo". The manual discusses this feature on page 167 (or so). The manual talkes like it is a simple three or four steps and off you go. I can get to the page that displays the controls. Sure enough I push the side button and the recording begins. But, when I want to replay the message I get an error message that says that "this audio format is not suported". I cannot understand why the feature's own recording creates that response.
