    Default 750 or 680?

i'm a little worried that the 680 is going to be the stepchild compared to the 750. i wonder if i should wait to get the 750 or go ahead and pick up the 680. But will more attention be spent on the 750(in terms of 3rd party software, upgrades, etc)?

PS i'm a MAC user and i love it... not that i would mind dealing with windows os.

Perhaps you should wait for the 750 to be released and see what happens in terms of 3rd party apps and such. then you could also take a trip to cingular and play around with both of them and see which you like better. Personally im not interested in the Pocket PC, i prefer the simplicity of palm so i purchased the 680.

I think most people are in over their heads with regard to their PDA/phone. Too often I see people who work at Blockbuster or McDonald's who "need" the Treo 750 (or insert equivalent business user device). For what?

What could someone who works at Blockbuster part-time do on the side that "requires" them to have the applications on a Windows Mobile phone? Even a Palm phone is too much for them.

Heck, I work in Silicon Valley in a high-tech job that requires a college degree, yet my 680 is way more than I need for what I do. I think people like to think of themselves as more important than they really are, so having a highfalutin device makes others think they're power users always on the go.

My favorite are people who get Blackberry's on their own (without their company paying for it), yet their place of employ doesn't have a corresponding Blackberry Server!

Get a Sharp ZAURUS and a StarTAC. That's all most people need anyway, unless you're a CEO (being the CEO of your in-home envelope stuffing business doesn't count, and neither does being President of your Amway distributorship!). LOL!

Just because a person works at Blockbuster or McDonald's or is in High School does not mean that they don't have a schedule, contacts, tasks, memos to keep track of. Everybody has these needs, not just corporate executives. I am a photographer for 4 major theme parks in Orlando and I have a Treo 680 to help keep my schedule in line.

I have been a Treo user for a few years now, previously a 650 and I find it an invaluable tool. Virtually my entire life is in that thing. I prefer carrying a Treo around as opposed to both a cell phone and PDA or even a Franklin Planner.

Treo's are phones for everyone not just business people. With the functionality that they have these days I can see uses for everyone whether they are an executive at a major corporation, working at McDonald's or a student in High School. To think that the Treo is just a business tool for executives is outright discriminatory.

Well, teenagers like to text also. A Razr is $200. I know between a PDA and a Razr what I would like to text from . . . .

You can text from a RAZR? oh I have to punch keys up to 4 times to get the letter I want. I'll text from my Treo. LOL

kinda judgemental to say that people have no real need for a device...without actually knowing them and what is driving their day, hard to say that someone doesn't need a certain device...
if you have the money and it is not breaking some moral law, buy the device that suits your needs.

I agree most definately. even though im in highschool i still use mine all the time - i carry all of my reports and slideshows on it so i can add/change things with out having to wait till i go home or i find some place to use my laptop and im quite busy with extra curicular activities so i use the caladar alarams all the time to remind me about club meetings and events. i use it twice as much as my dad uses his and he's an oral surgeon (who uses it alot) so i think im definately getting out of it what my wallet put in for it.
