Are the new (cheap) offers for the 680 really legit?
I've been wondering if I should upgrade to the 680 from the 600 and glad I held off because now I see offers for $39 (one Treo type website) and $49 (another one). But, I'm wondering if it's really worth it. If it's too good to be true............
My concerns are:
1) Warranty?
2) Penalities? (I've been with AT&T/Cingular for awhile and have no plans to leave; so would I be affected?)
3) If I change my data plan (don't have one right now), will that affect "the contract"? I read that if you lower your minutes, it would. I currently only use about 200 minutes per month and the upgrade offer would put me at 900 minutes per month for $20 more a month....... Obviously, I would start using the phone a lot more especially for long distance.
4) Have people been experiencing the "buzzing" with the 680?
5) Is the reason for the huge discount because Palm is going to come out with an even better phone in the near future for Cingular? Should I wait?

Well I have seen them going for free as well. It is a "newbie" phone it was design to compete with the regular cell phone market. i.e. raxor. So I'm not surprised if they are really cheap. I do warn thought some sites might be fakes. I recommend palm, ET, Treocentral, mytreo, and so others. I recommend looking for any feed back about the site before you purchase from thier. To make sure it is not a fake.
1) warranty is a year I think insurance is automactically denied but could be wrong.
2) No you would not just pop in your sim chip and your good to go.But to get the phone free you probably have to sign up for a brand new two year paln. But you porbably could get the phone for $50 without the need of a new plan.
3)Well I don't know how it works on cingular but with verizon I can change my plan when ever without any extra fees like "you changed your paln fee".
4) Not that I know of but try reading the forums or reviews and see if they state that. (I think that has stopped)
5)No as stated before it is more of an intro phone. So to get people who never used palm os/ treos.
