Default battery life and vibrate alert for e-mail

just got the 680 the battery was dead in about 5 hours? that was awfully surprising?

Is there a way for me to set my phone to vibrate when I get an e-mail?? or only whe it is on ring will it alert?

Blackberry connect, can I add it on top of the media works package that i have? (20 bucks unlimted e-mail, interenet and 1500 text messaging?

thanks in advance

I would recommend Chatteremail.
You can assign different ringtones and different vibrations to different accounts, and if you have access to IMAP based email, you can do the same thing that Blackberry connect will give you without the monthly charge. I can't remember now if Versamail will vibrate upon receiving mail or not, but Chatter certainly will. By the way, this app is so good that Palm recently hired the developer to come to work for them!

As far as battery life, I have the same issues. Its better since I installed the battery patch, but battery life is nothing like what I was getting out of my 650.

Yes, evidently, there was a drain caused on the battery when one used the camera, and after a shot was taken, it was still calling for the "extra" to snap a picture long after the picture was taken . . .

Chatter works for POP just fine, however, you don't get a lot of the benefits that Chatter is known for. If you are looking for the blackberry email experience, you are only going to get it with IMAP email accounts. If you buy Chatter, you can try out IMAP email for 6 months and see what I am talking about. It will issue you a username of your choice @treomail.com
After 6 months, you will have to register to keep it, and the best I remember, its about $26 a year. Yahoo is one of the big ones that offer IMAP accounts. Hotmail and gmail are not friendly to any POP/IMAP mail application, but you can get gmail to run on a TREO. . Hotmail will require its own 3rd party app . .
