Battery life seems unusually short - Treo 680
I'm a long-term Treo user. Just "upgraded" from a 650 to a 680. Using the unlocked model with T-Mobile. Question for other 680 owners: does the battery life seem unusually short? For instance, yesterday morning, I charged my phone and then unplugged the charger when the light turned green. I then DID NOT USE the phone at all (it was turned on, but nothing else was running... no email checks, no bluetooth, no calls...) and 6 hours later the battery was 1/2 drained. By 9pm that night, after checking email 2-3 times, it was nearly in the red zone. According to the Palm website, I have all the updated patches and software installed. This just seems unusual to me. Although the 680 has a shorter battery lifespan that the 650, this is beyond normal to me.
Anyone have any insights?

Emily, that seems a bit short to me, as well. You might try leaving the battery in the charger all night. The green light doesn't mean the battery is at full charge, only that it has reached a voltage threshold. I've found that there's nothing like a good, long charge to keep your TREO going longer. Make sure your 'beam receive' is not on, as well. Although it won't drain the battery like Bluetooth, it does use current...

Smart Phone Idiot
Do a search here and you will find this is a common thing with the 680. The battery life is simply Terrible! I too, am a long time Palm OS user. I expected battery life to maybe not be as good as the 650, because it was smaller. But I wasn't prepared to own a device that couldn't get me through the day without charging. I have a USB charger at work, a Car Charger, a Charger by the TV at home and one by the bed . . . I use IMAP Email, BlueTooth, update QuickNews, use it as my main phone, etc. Without any extra charging assistance, my Treo is usually dead after about 9 1/2-10 hours.
On the plus side, it seems slower to discharge from about 40% down to zero.

Eeh gads. Ok. Good to know. Thanks.
I've got all the additional chargers, too. Will just have to live with it, I guess.

OK. Thanks for your suggestions.
I usually leave it charging all night. But, I didn't think about the 'beam receive'. I'll turn that off.
Thanks!

The problem, I believe, is the battery. It is only 1200 mAh. Seido makes a thin battery which is 1600 mAh which give an extra 25% life. (it's not very expensive0. Also, I've noticed that if I'm in a place where there is no signal, the 680 keeps searching for that signal which sucks the life out of the thing. Bluetooth does the same thing, just not as quickly. Hope that helps.

Yeah - I've learned the hard way that Bluetooth is energy-draining. Thanks!
