Call Quality
How deos the call quality compare to the treo 650? better or the same. I torn between getting a cheaper unlocked 650 or an unlocked treo 680 which is double the price. I dont want to buy the treo 650 if the call quality sucks. Please help

I needed volume care with my 650 just to make it useable in places other than my office! I don't need it with the 680. With that said, VolumeCare is what, $20.00? And works so good, lots of times I forgot it was installed on the 650! The additional memory, smaller form factor, etc make the 680 a much nicer device. I have said it too much here already, but my 680 outperforms my 650 in every area except battery life. I have taken the patch and it has helped tremendously, but that smaller battery of the 680 just ain't going to give you the life that that larger 650 does.
Also, it seems that 1.2 version of Bluetooth is much improved over 1.1 . .

What does 'Volume Care" do and where do you purchase it?

You can get it here!
It is an application to boost the volume of he speakers on the Treo. Also, you can select individual apps to boost the volume on those also. You can set a level to start and use the rocker buttons on the side of the Treo to boost the volume even further. Again, I found it necessary to have this app on the 650, but have found he 680 headset volume adequate and not necessary . .

Thank you very much! And thanks for the welcome! I appreciate your responding as fast as you did.
Can I ask you another couple of questions?
1) With VolumeCare, does it also increase the level of vibration when you set the Treo to vibrate mode? I find that when I have it in a leather case, you can barely feel it vibrate when in that mode and I tend to miss calls.
2) On another note, the one thing I'm not in love with about the Treo is that if you don't have a flap kind of case to cover the screen, everybody on the planet can see your phone light up when it rings at night! Folks seem to be quite nosey these days 'cuz the other night, I received a call, on vibrate, looked down and pressed 'ignore.' Somebody standing next to me made a comment 'I do the same thing!." I said to myself, I've got to find something to hide this because I'd prefer not to have people looking over my shoulder. Any suggestions? I know laptops have security screens which block look-e-loo's but does anything like this even exist? Call me crazy but I'm ust trying to have a little privacy when I'm out in public!

No, it only boosts the volume level of Speakers/Applications. I sometimes set the volume of the calls to a very low level if I think the vibration won't be enough however. In case you don't know, you can do that by going to Preferences/Sounds and Alerts/Ringtones/ and dropping the level. I usually set it to about 2 when in an office with other around me.

There are several Flip Lid cases that you might consider. These would offer some privacy, but I would consider it only a partial solution. Hope this helps!

I have a krusell flip case with my 650 they make one for thge 680 and 750 I like it because the flap covers tyhe screen and you can use the phone in the case and the flap can snap on with the case open and form a holder for extra safety while using the phone. I have a pouch type case and a book style case but I really prefer my flip case and I like the krusell case the best I have one that I got with the 600 and used it with my 650 and the clip holder broke after 18 months of use and I tried another flip case and did not like it as much so I bought another krusell. But its kind of a personal preference.
