    Hello philly_cat,

This is Kevin from Palm Inc. I expect the following is for when you are in the Camera application:

    1. Go to Camera View or Camcorder
View (each has an icon, one looks like a still camera, the other a movie camera)

    2. Press Menu. That should take you to various settings

This is on page 130 of the pdf manual. The manual may be on your CD or can be downloaded by navigating to your model/carrier from Palm's main Support page.
    Hope that helps.

    Sincerely
    Kevin

Interesting that the Treo allows to shut down the camera sound... on "standard" cellphones this isn't possible (at least not in Europe)...

See how much one can learn if they take the time to read the manuals that come with the products, either in paper formats or digital formats.

Most people do not read the product documentation and then complain when the product doesn't do something they expect it to do. When all along the item is explained right there in the manual.

This is not anything against the original poster, just everyone in general. Just read the manuals and documentation, you will learn so much about your newly purchased item. Keep coming back to them once in awhile too, you may also find out something else new that you didn't know about, but now that you have been using the item for awhile may find useful and the product more enjoyable.

Yea, but it's hard to figure out that the meaty documentation is contained on the CD-ROM. The printed guides that come with the 680 make you think that that's all the documentation you get--and need.

After hours looking for instructions on how to perform a hard reset on my 680--in both the printed guides and online--I finally threw the CD-ROM in and started browsing. Lo and behold that complete User Guide resides on there in PDF format!

In fact, my 680 was so new that the hard reset instructions weren't even online. The Palm website at the time had the 680 hard reset instructions clumped into the 650's, which was totally misleading.

Those pdf manuals are also in your Palm folder under program files if you installed Palm Desktop. I have found several references to the Treo "650" in these manuals! fwiw, I was pretty impressed with the ease of upgrading to the 680. The new software recognized that I had a version already installed and asked if I wanted to use my user profile and import the data. When I went from the Tungsten to the 650, I ended up with a hosed install, with files from both my tungsten and my treo on my treo. For example, the camera was useless because the tungstens "fotos" had replaced the files . . This data transferred almost perfectly. I had to grab one file for Ringo Pro, and reinstall ptunes deluxe and zlauncher, with zlauncher requiring contacting the developer for a new key.
