You might want to read some of the threads here in the Cingular forum. MediaNet is the same package as PDA connect. But cingular figures you will use more data with a PDA so they charge you more for it! What they are telling you is correct. You are supposed to use PDA connect with a 680. However, I am still on the MediaNet Plan. I purchased the 680 "outright" to avoid having to upgrade to the more expensive data package . . . With that said, I find it hard to believe that it just quit working. My guess is, when you called them to see, that tipped them off you were signed up for MediaNet. Cingular saying your phone is not compatible is indeed a bunch of garbage and not correct. Its compatible! It just not how they do biz . . . If you have a cell phone, then they sell you $20 unlimited package. If you buy a PDA, then they sell you the $40 package . . Advice? Purchase a no frills Cingular compatible phone, and call them and tell them, that is your phone, and you need MediaNet unlimited. They show that as your phone on your profile. Remove the sim, and stick it back in your 680 . . . . . Other than that, either pay the extra, or move to sprint and get a 700P. Sprint's data plans are by far the most reasonable of all the major carriers . . .

Yep, money and marketing... its the biggest shell game there is. Personally I hate that cellular hasnt gone to flatrate data and flatrate voice at reasonable prices, and they all play doubletalk games to lock you in for 2 years at a time. If they would just provide good service with good honest support, everyone would be happier.

That's a load of crap! I just put the MediaMax bundle on my 680 for unlimited internet, and it works just fine. My best friend works for Cingular ( I was just at their new AT&T Experience store in Houston on Wednesday), and he said don't get PDA Connect, bc it was slow. They're feeding you a bunch of crap.

PDAConnect and MediaNet both move at the same speed. I have both network profiles on my 680 and have tested them. If one moves slower than the other where you live then it is because of the network.

And yes, I got caught in that PDAConnect too. I wish I would have kept my MediaNet that I had on the old Nokia. :frown:

Anyone want to launch a class action suit? Sounds like Cingular/ATT is selling the exact same service at two different prices.

I also use the Media Max 200 plan. But Im finding that 200 text messages isn't enough. Does anyone know if the SmartPhone Unlimited plan will work with the treo? On their website it lists the smartphones that you are allowed to use with it, the treo is not listed, because they don't consider it a smartphone. Im curious whether the SmartPhone Unlimited plan will work...its cheaper.
