    Default "Disconnect on Exit" Feature

    Hello,

I just picked up a treo 680 to replace my 650 today. I have to say that so far I am very impressed with the 680 in terms of feel and features. However, one annoying glitch that I don't seem to be able to solve is that whenever I connect to my email via Versamail or browse the net, I am no longer able to automatically disconnect when I exit the application. Instead the connection seems to stay active no matter what I do as witnessed by the two green arrows next to the reception bar icon. I was able to set up my 650 so that the connection to Cingular GPRS would disconnect automatically upon exiting the email or web application.

Has anyone else encountered this same issue and if so do you have any suggestions as to how to disconnect automatically. Also, it is worth mentioning that I have selected the auto-disconnect option in the email preferences but this does not help.

    Thanks in advance,

    hi ares,

check the settings on versamail. unless they changed it check the connections under preferences and check disconnect. try that. other than that maybe someone else will know better.

Yes this allows me to disconnect manually but it doesn't allow for automatic disconnect when exiting the email or web application.

    Thanks in advance,
I've got your problem.. but WORSE... I have had a 650 for about a year... auto-disconnect working fine...I had to get a replacement 650 (not 680) a few weeks ago.... now, in the NEW 650, auto-disconnect does NOT work !!

I've been on the phone with Alltel Data Tech Service folk the past three days... they are acting like they've never heard of this before !!

    Ares,

I noticed the same thing, and it is pissing me off...they took away the manuel disconnect from Blazer, and even with my auto-disconnect checked in Versamail it still stays connected...and it is killing my battery life!
