double entries in contacts - Treo Forums

I have had the Treo 680 for about a week and during first syncs most contacts entries got doubled, unfortunately both in Outlook on my laptop and on the Treo.

Has anybody an easy fix for this, since I have about 700 entries, which have now risen to 1100. Thanks..

When the doubling happened to me when I had a Toshiba PDA, it turned out that I was syncing BOTH the Outlook AND the Outlook archive. However, it has not happenned with my 750v so I cannot suggest a remedy

Doubling happened to me when I had a Toshiba PDA. It turned out that I was syncing with both Outlook AND Outlook archive at the same time. I now have a Palm Treo 750v and it has not happened. I cannot remember how I corrected the problem on the Toshiba, but it must be possible with your Treo. Maybe by contacting Palm.

I had the same thing happen with palm desktop on my mac. Somewhere in the app (in this case Outlook) there should be a "view duplicate entries" or something of that nature..., delete the duplicate entries and resync with the computer overwriting contacts on the treo (instead of syncing or merging).

I remembered now what I did. As I back up frequently I really have no requirement of the archive so I deleted the "Archive" file completely off my PC and then when I synced, the PDA only picked up the one contact list in MS Outlook

Thanks Eddie, meanwhile I have been able to remove the duplicates in outlook. But if I try to sync with the option "Desktop overwrites handheld" the double entries stay the same on the Treo? Are there further switches or options to set?
