Default DUN On a MAC with Treo 680

I am trying to setup Bluetooth DUN on a Mac.

I have Cingular with the Dataconnect MAX Plan.

I have a unlocked GSM Treo 680

I setup the device on the mac and used modem connect like it says on the palm website but I keep getting errors that it's not working?

Has anyone got this to work on a MAC?

Jeremy

After some serious research, I've concluded that it's so difference PC to PC, that simply purchasing PDANet solves the problem on all machines besides my MAC.

PDANet makes it so easy it's worth the money!

PdaNet turns your Treo into a modem for your laptop. Its a one time fee! Works perfectly for me!

You can try it out and purchase it here!

Mornin' all,

Will PdaNet work with any of the Cingular data plans, or do we need to have the expensive one to use DUN? It would be sweet if it worked with the basic unlimited plan.

Cingular calls using your treo as a modem for a laptop "Tethered Mode", and charges above most data plans to use it....
"Use of the PDA as a tethering device, or who use of the SIM in a modem card may be subject to charges at an out of bucket data rate. "
Data Connect: Data Connect rate plans are designed to allow laptops to wirelessly connect to the Internet. Data Connect rate plans include data usage for tethering of laptop/computer with a wireless device. For more information, please contact Cingular Customer Care.

Robert i have this tethered feature. I recently upgraded to this feature through cingular. The gentleman walked me through the settings for my Mac laptop but I have yet to connect. Do you know of any software that supports the Macintosh that I could purchase as a third party like PDAnet

Ok, have you paired the laptop and treo to where they see each other via Bluetooth?
DUN enabled on the bluetooth setup on the treo?
which OS is on your mac? OS X?
This may help,,,,

basicly, what step is the failure at, and what is the specific error report, and are any error messages showing on the phone when it happens
