    Default Extended Battery Problem?

I didn't like the battery that came with the 680 so I upgraded to the Seidio High Capacity 2400 which really gives me all the power that I need. There is a problem, however, I'll be in the middle of doing something, usually reading an ebook, but sometimes on a call and a warning will come up saying that the battery is low and that the device will shut down in 30 seconds. The countdown starts and no matter what I do I get a soft reset. When the 680 reboots and I check (of course I already know this going in), I have anywhere between 65 and 85% or more battery power left.

Is there something that I can do, a program, patch, anything that will stop this from happening?

Try resetting the battery meter . . .

Disable any background app before starting. This is critical! Chatter, Treoalarm, and quicknews were the three I had to turn off. SET them to off, because you will be resetting the device a couple of times in this process.

Please follow the steps below to solve the issue:

    1. Connect your Treo to a wall charger.

    2. Remove the battery from the Treo and wait for at least one minute.

    3. Remove the SIM card from the device and wait for another minute.

    4. Put the battery back into the device (without the SIM card) then let your Treo charge for at least 4 to 6 hours and for this duration:
      • Do NOT press any key after reinserting the battery.
      • Do NOT switch your TREO On or Off either, it will do so automatically after a short time.
      • Do NOT enter the SIM card PIN if prompted to do so, just wait!
After this procedure, which can be performed and repeated any time, you will now dispose of the full charging capacity and the display of the remaining battery power will work correctly.”

I got it directly from seidio: http://www.seidioonline.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=598

The cost was $49.49 and you had your choice of back covers to match your 680. I think the price is pretty much standard where every you go. I did originally get it on eBay, but it came with the wrong cover (it was cheaper, but wasn't worth the hassle of returning it).

I use it all day long and read ebooks for hours and still have at least 50% battery at the end of the day.

BTW ... thanks for the tip on resetting that battery meter ... it's working so far and hasn't give me any problems :-)
