Question Failed Treo 680 Hard Reset

I just bought a new Treo 680 as my old one's screen is in poor shape, the battery won't hold a charge, and a few other things have just gotten old.

I wanted to hotsync just a little bit on the new one to start with so I set my conduits so only two new files would install and chose "do nothing" for everything else. However, the entire old backup folder began to load before I pressed cancel. When I tried over and over using different methods to do a hard reset to eliminate these unwanted items and get the new Treo back to the way it came, it absolutely would not perform a hard reset.

Does anyone know some sure-fire technique to get me back to square one?

Thanks for your help.

Favorite Failed Hard Reset (Still)

AKITAYO, thanks for your ideas.

My device is fully charged; I have no SD card in it; the phone is off.
This is a "new" Treo 680 I just got to be a backup for the one I've been using every day since the first day they came out, over two years now. I've done a few hard resets on it and had no problems. Just to make sure I was doing the right thing, I checked my manual again and followed those steps, and yours, probably 10 times.

The problem has been that the "Palm" logo doesn't come up twice. After the first time it goes to the "Access" page and the window asking if I want to delete all data never appears.

Guess I'll just keep trying different things and, eventually if noting works, send it back. I do appreciate your efforts to help.

No, You are not doing the right way.
Don´t release your finger from the red button at all . Push it hard. Wait that Palm orange logo shows running the black loading bar and after that will show the Palm logo again without that black bar In that instant RELEASE your finger.-Please let me know what happen

Default Hard Reset

I hold the power button down and insert the battery.
I keep holding the power button down as the Palm icon and black bar go across the screen.
I keep holding the power button down as the Powered by Access screen appears.
I sometimes even keep holding the power button down as the Palm loads.
The time preferences pages comes up, I give up, and finally release the power button.

The Palm logo without the black bar just doesn't come up so I can't release the power button at the proper time.

It's O.K. I bought the new Treo from a seller on Amazon who didn't have a really great rating because it was a lot cheaper than others were selling it for. I'll keep messing with it for a few days and send it back if necessary.

Thanks for your help.
