Default Having problems with sound, could use some help quick!

This is my wifes treo 680, and she is a real estate agent, so this is urgent because its hard to make money without a phone.

    Heres whats happening:
Sometimes when she calls someone they can hear her, but she can't hear them. Other times when she calls someone, she can hear them, but they can't hear her. Other times the phone works perfectly fine.

Her digitizer cracked (she dropped it) so i took it apart to replace it. This is when it started happening. She had the exact same issue on her previous palm, but palm said there is nothing they could do. Phone died completely, so she sent it back and got a new one. Now the problem has arrived on the new one.

    Thanks for the help!

OK, quick update, still need help though.

Took the phone apart and looked at everything again. Everything seemed fine so i put it back together. Heres a more descriptive issue.

    Speakerphone works fine.
    Plug-in headphone works fine.
When you call someone just using the regular phone, you can't hear anything, but they can hear you.

Tried the phone jack trick (lube it up and insert a jack repetitively) with no luck. Warranty return is probably void because the phone was taken apart.

    Any ideas?

Having the same problem. Tried using WD40 on the jack and inserted and removed a few times and it came good. Next day after recharging the phone rang and it was silent again. Any good info on how to cure it. 18mths old so no warranty

thanks for the link. We couldn't stop using the headphone jack, because that was the only thing that did work. The unit was much to buggy to begin with, so she bought a blackberry. She had a blackberry before and found it much more stable

Thanks for the info but I live in Malaysia :laugh3:. However, I dismantled the unit and blasted the phonejack with WD40 again, this time using a tube and directing the jet through the hole at the rear of the phonejack so there was no problem of getting the fluid into the electronics. Seems to have fixed the problem as it's working again.
