Help with minitones!
Hey guys,
I have a Treo 680 and am trying to get ringtones on here. I have downloaded MiniTunes and imported a mp3 there. I even cropped it down to under 500k, and have it set as the ringer..but when someone calls it doesn't ring!! What am I doing wrong? Any help would be really appreciated!

It doesn't ring at all, or it doesn't use your ringtone? Might be a silly question, but do you have the ringer switch set to off? Check your other settings for incoming calls - you might find something.

it rings, just with the default ringtone on the phone, even though it's set to the minitones song i want...

Make sure you have it set to ring with the right person that is calling, there are a few defaults and you might just have it set to ring with known or unknown callers.
Other than that maybe a size limitation? Im not that up on these yet, only had mine 2 months.

And why does it save the ringtone onto the phone when I have them on the sim card?

Minitones, as I understand it, is designed to take an MP3 (whether on the expansion card or in ROM) and put it on the phone where it can be found by the phone and used as a ring tone.
I think that your size of the ringtone at 500 is too large and would take too long to load. Personally, I would cut down to 250 or less.
Go to Preferences (actually shown as "Prefs") icon and then to Sound and Alerts....or more easily just go straight to the Sounds icon. Make sure that the proposed ringtone is shown under the one or more classes (Known Caller, etc.) that you want the Minitone ringtones to use.
Should work!

There is nothing wrong with the size of your file, I have some approaching 1MB. I have had a similar problem though. Select files simply will not play as ringtones. You can tell which one's will be a problem by previewing the full song first in the minitones app. On the screen that displays your entire library, hit the little play button to the left of the song. If it plays, you're good. Some will not play and I don't know the reason.

A little snippet
So I've installed, I've trimmed to & when i set as a ring tone nothing, or the starndard 'doo doo, doo doo' tone.
when in prefs I play a few to 'preview it &i get the first :001 second of it. and then nothing.
I reallly want it to play & it won't any ideas? Should i install and re-install?
I've already done that twice.
