I don't have a Prefs > Network. All I have is a Prefs > Page, General, or Advanced tabs. With no "network" option on either of them.

Hello oldschoolandrew,

It sounds like your trying to access from Blazer. If you go from Preferences on your main application launcher, where all your app icons are, you'll find the path.

Sincerely
Kevin

What I'm using is this cool little DA, called NetSelDA. It was programmed by Patrice Bernard, the author of Metro.

It's launched easily from within any program using a DA launcher such as PetitLaunch.
It lets you start or stop any network connection.
Example ?
I'm in Blazer, I click once on the calendar button (that's the one I configured to trigger PetitLaunch), then click "n" for "NetSelDA" (I've configured this shortcut), the DA launches and I can disconnect. It takes less time to do it than to explain !

You can find NetSelDA on the Métro Homepage, under "other software". There's a link for PetitLaunch there, too.

Is there any truth to the rumor that they're going to rename the 680 to 580, as the 600 has more functionality in this Network Connectivity issue than the 680?

Can you put me in touch with the UI Designer at Palm so s/he can defend their actions? How taking the 'Disconnect' menu from the top level in the browser and burying it within a Prefs pane is progress is beyond me?

Might such actions (or lack thereof) explain Palm's dismal earnings report the other day?

Okay, gotta go check out the Samsung Blackjack running Windows Mobile...had no idea my run with the Palm OS would be cut short by the degradation of their interface...

Thank goodness I found this...have been turning my phone off and back on each time to disconnect!!! What a rookie!!

"And maybe, just maybe, the UI engineers at Palm had a bad day, and someone with a forceful argument won the "April 12, 2006, 3 p.m. TREO 680 INTERFACE meeting in the 3COM MEMORIAL CONFERENCE ROOM" at Palm HQ."

Classic! I too sorely miss the ease of being able to close my network connection from Blazer. I know it's also not available in VersaMail. Thankfully Chattermail still has the disconnect option.

The only way I've managed to do it is to turn the phone off and on again. What a pain! There is no place in preferences to go to network to disconnect.
